Artist Info:Alien Ant Farm is an American rock band that formed in the southern California city of Riverside in 1995. Their name comes from an idea guitarist Terry Corso had about aliens and the earth–”I was daydreaming at my dull desk job with my feet up, and I thought to myself, ‘Wouldn’t it be cool if the human species were placed on earth and cultivated by alien intelligence?’ Maybe the aliens added us to an atmosphere that was suitable for us, and they’ve been watching us develop and colonize, kind of like what a kid does with an ant farm”.

truANT

truANT is Alien Ant Farm’s second album. It was released on August 8, 2003 by DreamWorks. The producers of the album were Stone Temple Pilots’ guitarist and bassist Robert DeLeo and Dean DeLeo.

The music video for track “These Days” was filmed on a roof top across the street from the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles. The surprise video shoot was shot during the 2003 BET Awards while numerous hip hop artists and rappers were arriving on the red carpet before the awards show. The video catches the reaction from many artists, including Nelly, Snoop Dogg, and Lil Kim (the former of which was also signed to DreamWorks).

The album art is based on the classic Pee-Chee brand school folder (no longer in production), featuring the faces of the band members.

Up in the Attic

Up in the Attic is Alien Ant Farm’s third album. The album is identical to 3rd Draft with the addition of one new track, and radio promo, “Forgive and Forget”. It’s considered a commercial flop in the U.S. due to the facts that there was little support for the album with no official single released (“Forgive and Forget” was only released as a promo to radio and received little airplay) and no tour. The album debuted at number 114 on the Billboard 200 and in its next week dropped to number 198 and fell off the next week.

The album cover features references to songs of past albums, such as Pink Tea, Smooth Criminal, Movies, and S.S. Recognize.

About the Artist
Formed in 2000 by brothers Helmut and Franz Vonlichten, the band E.S. Posthumus is one of the most successful creators of music for flim, film trailors and television in the world. It is their music that has excited filmgoers to see Superman, Matrix Reloaded, Ali, The Clearing, Team American, The Recruit, Planet Of The Apes, Minority Report, Unfaithful and other major motion pictures. Their music has been licensed by every major film and TV studio including Disney, 20th Century Fox, Paramount, Warner Brothers, Universal Pictures, Columbia Tristar, Miramax and the list goes on.

Album Description
The songs on “Unearthed” pay homage to ancient cultures with their titles (Cuzco, Pompeii, Harrapa, and Ebia), yet they are as contemporary as Deep Forest and Enigma and attract the same kind of fan. The music is at one moment dark and choral and at another light and airy; one moment you’re in Greece and then in Ireland or South America. It’s a film score, clearly cinematic, but there’s no movie - rather there are the dozens of movies and movie trailers in which the music has appreaed. If you’ve watched Six Feet Under, the NFL or the US Open, you’ve heard their music. If you watch CBS’s hit series “Cold Case” on Sunday nights, you’ve heard one of the most extraordinary theme songs ever, and it’s the track “Nara”. If you are even an occasional filmgoer, you’ve heard the music on “UNEARTHED”

The second record from this Minneapolis trio firmly established them as one of the most promising hard-edged pop bands to surface in the 1990s. The leadoff track, the modern rock radio hit “Closing Time,” neatly encapsulates everything that makes Semisonic special, from its irresistibly catchy chorus to an ingeniously minimalist keyboard riff to a simple lyric that speaks volumes to the 20-something nightclubbing set.

Elsewhere, the band broadens its base with touches of psychedelic production (“California”), boogie-woogie- influenced piano (“Never You Mind”) and tender string accompaniment (“Gone to the Movies”). The disc drags a bit in the middle with less memorable tracks such as “Completely Pleased” and “This Will Be My Year,” but overall, Feeling Strangely Fine finds Semisonic blooming radiantly.
